About Tested at Work

Tested at Work puts AI tools through real work instead of demos. The question we care about is not what a tool can do in a launch video — it is what it does on a Tuesday, on your data, when the task is boring and the stakes are ordinary.

That means we are as interested in where a tool fails as in where it shines. A review that lists only strengths has told you nothing you could act on. We write for practitioners choosing between options with their own money or their team's time.

What we cover

  • Tools — what a tool is genuinely good at, and the work it should not be given
  • Agents — autonomous setups run against real tasks, with the failure modes named
  • Guides — how to evaluate a category yourself, so you are not dependent on our verdict
  • Startup Tools — newer entrants, assessed on the same terms as the incumbents

How we work

We never claim a test we did not run. Where a figure comes from the vendor, it is attributed to the vendor. Verdicts are framed as buying criteria — what would make this the right choice for you — rather than a score, because the right answer depends on your work. Every piece passes human editorial review.
